Oh my, what a year! Right?! From insurrection to vaccination, Americans have experienced every emotion between hell and heaven in 2021, and will mostly be glad to see the back of it. Crawling out of the political fray, the misinformation war, and the day to day grind, still we are grateful for much that came our way this year. Here, in this transient moment, tiny sparks seem worth celebrating in our home and blowing up straight into yours. After all, this is the season of light and hope; so with the best of intentions, I want to offer one cheer for our one small world, spinning in the darkness, peopled with you and me and the rest of our loves, expressed with paint on wood to say through love that yes, yes indeed, we will do more than survive, indeed, we can live on to celebrate the great gifts of the past 12 months. Art allows for all that complexity.

Nine Cent Girl is Celebrating!
As this blogger gets ready to cross into year 11, Nine Cent Girl is also celebrating her 500th post! What started as an avenue to write with consistency, and gain an immediate audience, has most definitely proven to be all that and more. Between comments and emails and texts and in-person conversations, the validation to keep at it has certainly fueled me beyond what I envisioned all those years ago. A big thank you is due to all my Nine Cent Girl readers, many times over. I must admit I’ve loved this journey with you by my side, and together, hold hope I’ll keep blogging into the foreseeable future.
time traveling
Is there anything more delightful than sailing into Venice, watching as the waterfront slowly takes shape, delightful small boats darting about the harbor and the bell tower of St Mark’s Basilica up ahead ringing in your arrival? Seriously, that occasion is a memory I hold dear, as one does the sweet air. Perhaps you also keep a cherished moment in time where everything came together like magic? When the mist rose at dawn and illuminated the mountain ridge? When you spotted a bald eagle soaring overhead? When the Ferris wheel held you and your bestie at the very top just as the summer sun set into a whole sky of orange and pink? We all have those sacred moments lingering right under this same now, don’t we?
