in sickness and in health

Sure health and wealth and party vibes are mostly what I love to remember when I think of my past three decades being married to this one. The pastel sunsets and dance floors, the brimming table with family laughing through the holidays and the nights of crazy merrymaking until we dropped, mostly documented with silly selfies and glam shots but nonetheless all seared into memory. Thanks to social media we can look like the rest of the shiny populous celebrating every coffee or salad in joyful glee. But the real test of this marriage, and I will say yours too, is how you creep through the hard stuff. Together we have buried all four of our parents. Mourned friends who passed too young. Lost our home. Lost jobs. Held our children as they shattered over breakups or disappointments. We have stood united. And fallen apart. Indeed we have for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, forged a solid bond.

Celebrations Abound

For so many reasons we are celebrating tonight. First due to the string of birthdays for daughter and niece, yet another Anniversary of this decade+ Nine Cent Girl blog, and wow, for the brilliant power of democracy in action. If you haven’t lifted your voice up in jubilant celebration, let this post encourage you with a wahoo for all the marvels of the week. In the spirit of positivity, I suggest that you roll out your yoga mat, hop on your bike, pour a glass or do whatever it is that you do to chant yourself into bliss for all the goodness that came your way this week. Let’s sparkle for all these triumphs!

How’s it going?

As we slide past that million deaths staring us down even deeper like a heavy weight, Covid death, death in the Ukraine, queer murders and weaponized terror all pale to what clearly is the oppressive fate of citizens like you and I Under His Eye. As I sit writing in my place I wonder how is it going at your place? Lately, I can keep it together as long as a few activities happen on the daily. The musts of my survival are essential and all so simple. At least this is my vantage. The list begins with the outdoors.
