Opening Night

No matter your medium or expression, there is a certain validation and exultation in a public show. Tonight I had so much fun sharing the spotlight with dozens of other local artists, showcasing over 150 submissions fantastic art. Raising a cheer for each other, this was a night to remember.

Making table tops have occupied me for several years, especially with reclaimed material. For this side table, I used a kitchen cabinet door for starters, and thought purely about our fabulous planet. Titled “Earth Day” this side table rests on iron legs and invites one to think of nothing but water and air and land combined into our available wondrous planet. My only hope is that the future owner of this table will feel encouraged to do what they can to keep this earth spinning clean and healthy.

Is there anything better than a support group of friends? Honestly, I can’t think of anything more fabulous that ladies who show up for each other. This crew is there for me on the day to day, and even on special nights. Big thanks to their dedication to us.

If there is any takeaway, it is this: keep evolving, keep creating, keep expressing. There is little joy that equals that of shared love and joy in one’s own artistic uttering.
