The Creative Space

In these last weeks dominated by the Wood Snake I want so badly to shed the old useless notions but am overwhelmed by what I can’t control which is seemingly controlling me. It is exhausting fighting and doing nothing at the same time. So today, instead of writing about my rage and impotence to enact change, I will repost from years ago, when I considered the power of the creative spark, the one that drives our hearts and souls and minds straight into our most powerful emotion: love. Just as important now, don’t you agree. Before we venture on the Fire Horse of 2026 and realize your next bold adventure into being, let’s prepare. Be mindful. Get some rest. Dream boldly. That enormous imaginative space is just waiting for us to enter, together, to build back our beautiful collective vision with all the collective love we can muster.

Plenty of Words

There have been plenty of words this week, trailing around, in and out of my head. I will not lie, many of them are frightening. Like when Trump said, “we should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for our military National Guard,” (abc news). And by dangerous, he included Portland, OR, which for anyone who has visited recently seems to be more absurd than just about anything he has said to date. In fact, “Portland has more than 100 miles of neighborhood greenways in every part of the city” and is a cyclist’s paradise filled with safe, beautiful paths and low-speed streets (portland.gov). (Just check out their beautiful airport– I swear you will never leave!) Trump’s lies that get pumped out as echoing sound bites are certainly the work of some legendary marketers, but it doesn’t change the fact that he is indeed a lying felon.

Thankfully, there were other words that spoke to me this week for which I am glad.

Love and Death

Sorry for not writing a post of gratitude and love yesterday on our national day of thanks, but as I mentioned a few weeks ago, all my writing attention is being pulled along by this fabulous crew in my fictional world, temporarily titled, Mrs. Hendricks & Company. Yes, there has been a whole swirl of twists and turns and even a death. I mean, isn’t there always? Love out to all my Nine Cent Girl readers, you all really buoy me on the day to day, and I am so grateful for that. Wish me luck as I reach my goal before December 1st!
