Autumn in my Closet: Tweed, Paisley and Animal Print

Now is the time when sugar maple leaves are a kaleidoscope of fire colors and burgundy asters bloom in planters on house porches side by side with orange pumpkins carved into goblins. All these earthy hues blend so perfectly and are reflected in my wardrobe. Perhaps my favorite part of this season is the accessories: hats, scarves, jackets, and boots allow you even more opportunity to spike your outfit with pizzazz. Here are three looks I put together with the textures and patterns and colors of the Autumn in mind…

My first look is a reflection of those brilliant leaves out there… orange and red on fire… but there is also texture with a pleated top and tweed jacket. My felt hat and mirrored bag complete this daytime style. Playful, layered, and versatile.

Top: BB Dakota
Jacket: Talbots

Bag: Street Level
Hat: The Hatter Company

For my second look I drew from the browns and blacks beginning to dominate the forest floors and stark tree limbs: Animal print on silk, a black fitted jacket and tall boots. An ensemble ready for day or night.

Dress: Jones New York
Boots: Frye

Let’s not forget about evening wear! While outside a northern chill is in the air, inside it is time to turn up the heat. In this party dress the goldenrod velvet bodice hugs while the sheer black chiffon flares: a contrast in color and fabric as well as style comes together like magic in this third look. Dust off  Madonna’s “Celebration” and start the revelry!

Dress: Gypsy Junkies
Boots: Steve Madden

No matter your personal style, mirror the changing world around you, and find your own charms in this season!
